Zonta Holiday Costume Run
The Zonta Club of Roseburg will host a 5K Holiday Costume Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. on December 14th at Roseburg High School Student Center. Participants are encouraged to dress up as Santa, an elf, reindeer, Super Heros or other characters. The race will have a prize for the first male and female across the finish line, and the best costume.
Early Bird Registration is now open and is only $25 through December 6th. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Registration goes to $30 from December 7 – 12th. Online registration will NOT be available on December 13th, but you can still register on the day of the event for $35.
Participants will need to check in at the registration table prior to the start of the event to pick up their bib number and sign a liability waiver. Parents or a Guardian must sign a waiver for each youth 17 and under. The registration will be open by 8 a.m. inside the Student Center. Bathrooms will be available inside the center.
The course will start in the parking lot in front of the Student Center, go to the bike trail and under I-5, up the hill and left toward the train, a loop on the Stewart Park bandshell trail, back toward the train, and a short spur out and back toward the sand volleyball pit, returning to the train and back to the Student Center. Except for two short hills, the course is predominately flat. The entire course is paved and suitable for strollers. A course map will be posted in December. Parking is available in the main parking lot in front of Roseburg High School off Harvard Avenue.
Times will be recorded by bib number as participants cross the finish line. They will be posted online.
Our THANKS to Umpqua Community College Cross Country and Track & Field Teams for helping us with this event. THANKS too, to Old Soul Pizza for contributing the prizes.
Zonta’s Dignity Drop will continue through November 22nd. The drop collects undergarments and sanitary products for women forced to flee their home due to domestic violence or pregnancy. Zonta provides the items collected to its partners such as Peace at Home, Adapt, Good Samaritan, and Safe Haven Maternity Home. Last year the club collected a record 630 items to distribute.
